I conducted interviews and created empathy maps to understand the users I was designing for and their needs. A primary user group identified through research was working adults who don’t live near markets that provide fresh produce and offer food assistance.

This user group confirmed initial assumptions about Local Fresh users, but research also revealed that location was not the only factor limiting users from accessing fresh produce in their areas. Other user problems vary as one person’s food access and availability may be different from their neighbor’s, depending on income and transportation. These challenges make it difficult for everyone to find healthy options locally without having to travel far to access healthy food.
